Sue Rossano-Rivero and David Serbin present current research on soft e-leadership skills at Europe's largest higher education conference: EAIE 2016, Liverpool.

September 15, 2016

Within the framework of this year's conference theme 'Imagine...' as international educators, have a dream of a higher education that transcends national borders, nurtures global citizens and moves us closer to freedom, equality and peace around the world; a panel presentation entitled: Soft e-leadership skills, hard learning in Europe was delivered together with Dr. Christophe Terrasse and Jean-Baptiste Maillard from the EFMD and Peter Mcluskie from Coventry University. The session exposed the results of a pan-European survey conducted by a consortium of universities and companies among teachers, trainers, students and managers to evaluate their needs in terms of soft e-leadership skills and the capacities of the higher education institutions (HEIs) to meet this demand.

Participants of the audience prised the student centred approach taken to build an e-learning offer, that proposes operational recommendations to HEIs and trainers on how to teach these e-leadership skills, taking full advantage of innovative delivery channels and building communities of practice among trainers, students and managers.

*The European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference, celebrated in Liverpool this year, is considered to be the largest higher education conference with more than 3,000 participants around the world.
