UniTransfer Module C – Pachuca, Mexico, March 2014

The last module of the UniTransfer Executive Training Course as part of DIES-Programme took place in Pachuca, Mexico, from the 17th to the 28th March 2014, at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH). The Module is the last one of three of UniTransfer.

UniTransfer is a project of DIES, a programme of the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) and HRK (Hochschulerektoren-Konferenz) – both Germany – on “Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies”.

The project coordinator is the Science-to-Buisness Marketing Research Centre at Münster University of Applied Sciences. Partners are the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (ITCR).

Dr. Lydia Raesfeld, coordinator of UniTransfer in Mexico and Director of Parque Científico y Tecnológico (Scientific and Technology Park) at UAEH was in charge of the local organisation of this Module in Mexico.

The 20 participants (from Costa Rica, Mexico and Nicaragua) were welcome in an opening session, as well as the different facilitators and experts coming from different universities, research centers and companies from Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Germany, Spain and Argentina. In total 40 experts had attended during the two weeks of the Module. The experts presented their experiences and knowledge in various seminars, workshops and activities in the fields of intellectual property, innovation, science-marketing, technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Besides, the participants had also the opportunity to visit some local companies like DINA or Grupo Tellería, which collaborate with the UAEH in various projects.

Some remarkable experts were Dr. Alejandro Cruz Molina (Minister of Science and Technology, Costa Rica), Dr. Thomas Baaken (Director of UniTransfer and of Science-to-Business Marketing Research Centre), Dr. Jorge Fernando Toro (Chief of Research and Postgraduate Studies at Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí) or M.C. Luis G. Torreblanca (Adjunct Director of Technological Development and Innovation, CONACYT). Also outstanding personalities from UAEH and Mexican authorities and organisations were present, like Mtro. Humberto A. Veras Godoy (Rector UAEH), Lic. Gerardo Sosa (President Patronato UAEH), Dr. Enrique Fernandez Fassnacht (Secretary-General ANUIES), as well as from the industry, like Ing. Friso Strahmann (Volkswagen), Ing. Uwe-Georg Fischer (Bombardier) and Ing. Francisco J. Tellería (Grupo Tellería).

The participants also presented the progress of their P.A.P. (personal application projects, which they are developing at their universities as part of UniTransfer) to the experts and adopted a creative approach, utilizing new tools and presenting skills, as well as involving the other participants and the experts.

The next and final event of UniTransfer will take place in Costa Rica from the 10th to the 12th September 2014, where participants will present the final results of their P.A.P. on a next Science-to-Business Marketing Conference.
